Cathy Chemi, "You and I"
liner notes:

More years ago than I care to remember,
I walked into a recording studio on West 57th St. in New York City.  My Mother sat at the grand piano...and I began to sing....some songs that were sentimental to family, some that friends liked to hear, and some that I personally loved....and so it is with this recording also.

The piano/voice combination brings with it a sense of simplicity  that not only reflects that first recording, but is also a venue which I enjoy immensely.  When I first began working with Steve Rudolph over 20 years ago, this was the basis for our musical relationship....just piano and voice.  Although we both love and have worked with Big Bands (Steve with Buddy Morrow/Dorsey Orchestra  and myself with Harry James), during the past ten years of steady gigs at the Hilton Harrisburg this has been a mainstay arrangement for us.  It was only natural, therefore, when we finally got into a recording studio, that we wanted it to be the same......just "You and I".  Four hours and thirteen tunes later, we had just that.

With the exception of one song, every offering here is like an old friend for me, all having been in my repertoire for at least 25 years.  I have told their story many times.

Paul Langosch, friend and bassist for the magnificent Tony Bennett, joins Steve and me on selected cuts.
