Dwayne Dolphin (Bassist, Composer, Clinician
Born: May 7, 1963) began playing the drums at ten years of age. In that same year, he began to play the bass guitar. By the time Dolphin was fifteen, he was on the local jazz scene working with Pittsburgh greats such as Rodger Humphries, Pete Henderson and Carl Arter.

Upon graduation from high school, Dwayne headed for the bright lights of New York City to start the
beginning of a promising career in the world of Jazz music.Dolphin's talent was immediately put to use by Grammy Award winning Trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, while touring extensively throughout the USA with Marsalis, he also appeared on the Tonight Show with this award winning quintet.

After his tenure with Marsalis, Dolphin joined the Hank Crawford Group. It was the teaching
of Crawford that schooled this young loin about the true meaning of the Blues. Now well on
his way to becoming a permanent fixture on the New York Jazz scene, Dwayne began to work
with the who's who of Jazz. Hank Jones, Abbey Lincoln, Chico Freeman, Pharaoh Sander,
Clark Terry, Kenny Burrell, and Bobby Watson to name a few.

Firmly rooted in the traditional jazz format, modern Jazz was the next challenge for the young
bassist. Touring the United States, Europe and Japan with Geri Alien, Graham Haynes,
Wallace Roney, Don Byron and Oliver Lake.

Never forgetting his roots, Dwayne returned to the mainstream to work with the
incomparable Stanley Turrentine.

Jazz not being Dolphin's only love, he began working with Ex-James Brown Band members,
touring Europe with such greats as Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis. This
brings us up to Dolphin's current endeavor. The new and exciting Dwayne Dolphin and
Under Cover Project. This contemporary funk band is highly sought after throughout the
world. In this band Dwayne plays his sweet singing Piccolo Bass. Dolphin feels the Piccolo
Bass is his true voice and this band is his best ever.

With all this experience under this young man's finger tips, Dwayne with his Piccolo Bass is a
performance you don't want to miss.
