The Sweetest Sound I Ever Heard - Richard Rogers

A personal note from Joe Hunt about the recording at Red Rock's studios:
"The date was one of the most satisfying and smoothest I've ever done. The music has the effect of effortless energy and I am anxious for others to hear it. Steve's arrangements are exemplary, and the overall performance has much in common with the style of the Bill Evans trios. I enjoy hearing this session again and again.

Bassist Steve Meashey is one of Central Pennsylvania's busiest musicians. He frequently plays in the Philadelphia area with trumpeters John Swana, and Bob Meashey (his brother). Steve's style is strong, yet flowing, and his solos are seamless events which remind one of Scott LaFaro's exceptional concept. Steve Meashey is a young man whose musical prowess belies his unassuming nature.

Pianist and composer Steve Rudolph sets the tone for the trio. He is an artist who projects strength and soul within a lyrical framework. His technical ability allows the music to speak to listeners without drawing attention to himself and the smoothness of his playing is reminiscent of the late Bill Evans. Steve has played with many jazz greats, including Louis Bellson, Clark Terry, Johnny Coles, Buddy DeFranco, and Terry Gibbs. He has recorded and produced several of his own CDs that are available at www.steverudolph.com
